Building Safer Construction Workflows: Raken Forms
How I designed a custom form builder for construction enterprise clients, adopted by the 15 largest accounts on day one.
The Challenge
Raken is a Construction Technology startup with the goal to transform the way the world builds. The firm had four established workflows, Daily Reporting, Production Tracking, Time Cards, and Toolbox Talks, but enterprise customers required customization without complicating the field worker experience.
We needed to improve safety and streamline communication across projects while serving enterprise clients who needed custom workflows for their specific operations.
The Solution: Web Forms
Through extensive user research we developed a web-based form builder that enables creation of custom forms for safety inspections, field worker training, and site inspections. Managers receive instant notifications when field workers submit completed forms.
Completing a Form on Mobile
Field workers access forms on mobile devices with full offline capability; data syncs when they reconnect. They receive push notifications and email reminders for pending forms, ensuring nothing gets missed even in areas with poor connectivity.
Outcome
Forms was released in Fall 2020 and was immediately adopted by our 15 largest clients. Results included enhanced safety protocols, significant efficiency gains, and real-time data insights for project managers.
